What is The Southwester?

The Southwester is a neighborhood paper serving the Southwest and Capitol Riverfront area of Washington, DC. It acts as a vehicle for disseminating news and information to the local residents. It is the cement which binds this neighborhood and is a community bulletin board.

Southwester Issues Online!

We are pleased to offer issues of The Southwester online in PDF (Portable Document Format). PDF allows documents to be converted into a readable document retaining its format and images in virtually all browsers. To read PDF, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader. The archives contain stories from The Southwester dating from June 1999, when the newspaper was first made available online. Issues are available in various formats -- text only, HTML and PDF, reflecting changing techonology.

How to Subscribe to Southwester

The Southwester is made available in orange street dispenser boxes throughout the neighborhood, in distribution racks in various apartment and condominium buildings, and in local businesses.

In the case of former Southwesters who have moved away, the Southwester can be mailed at a small cost for one year. However, we encourage potential subscribers to read the paper online -- they will get everything in the paper including photos, ads and layouts in color.
