Near SE/SW Community Benefits Coordinating Council (CBCC)


The CBCC is an 11 member board that includes leaders of many of the major community organization in near SE and SW DC, such as, South Washington West of the River Collaborative (The Collaborative), ANC6D, Southwest Neighborhood Assembly (SWNA), Washington Waterfront Association (WWA), The Resident Council Group (RCG), Southwest Renaissance Development Corporation (SRDC – Westminster Church's non-profit).

CBCC's mission is to “coordinate benefits for a caring community” by regularly engaging neighborhood organizational leaders to ensure that the major redevelopment of our area benefits all current residents and maintains a diverse community with improved quality of life for all. As of January 2010 the CBCC has submitted its application for non-profit, tax-exempt status. The top priorities are:

  • development of a community center including programs for workforce development;
  • maintaining and increasing the diversity for housing options for all income levels;
  • establishing a community fund for the ongoing support of programs;
  • advocating for neighborhood/resident oriented retail and local small business opportunities.

The CBCC will have annual board elections seeking talented and dedicated leaders of organizations and entities in the near SE/SW neighborhood.
