Several views of Banneker Circle, Maine Ave. and the L'Enfant
Promenade. Banneker Circle is a site proposed for an underground
tour bus terminal and for a museum. The L'Enfant Promenade is
proposed for rebuilding as a new, more pedestrian-friendly boulevard.
And Maine Ave. is planned to be converted to a new boulevard, with
the elimination of the parallel Water Street to make way for new

These photos show Waterfront Mall (formerly Waterside Mall), which is
scheduled for complete redevelopment, including the reconnecting of 4th St.
between I and M Streets, SW. While construction progresses, the only three
businesses to remain are a branch of
BankofAmerica, CVS and Safeway. The first phase of redevelopment calls for office buildings for DC Government

Marina View Towers at 1000 & 1100 6th St., SW are being redeveloped as
condos and also rental apartments. Plans call for at least one more

situated at the foot of the So. Capitol Street Bridge. The photo
also shows the new Nationals Ballpark, still under construction when

Across the street from NASA Hdq. between 3rd & 4th &
E Streets, SW are two new office buildings and a
Residence Inn by Marriott. The hotel is owned by

The National Museum of the American Indian, located
on the National Mall between 3rd & 4th Streets, SW opened

The U.S. Botanic Garden was completely rebuilt in recent years
on the National Mall in Southwest DC and the National Garden
has now been completed adjacent to the Botanic Garden.

Capitol Square, 93 upscale townhouses built between 2000-2002, is located
between 7th & 9th and G Streets, SW. For many years, the area was a parking
lot, but finally it was developed by EYA (Eakin/Youngentob).
